How does your organisation budget?
Approach: circle Lead Links request budget per project from a role Budgets & Resources that we created because we felt the general fall back to the super circle LL was too implicit / unclear. On top of that there are some predefined / rolling budgetsTools: Some are documented in Asana under t...

HolacracyOne Purpose
IMHO the purpose of H1 could be more concrete to reflect the facilitating + promoting nature of most of your work. Also, the current one (exquisite) could need another level of Why. What purpose does a better way of running organisations serve? Productivity, happiness, adaptability?

How does your organisation budget?
Ah, yeah I can imagine a tool to view allocated budgets might be nice, but for us this is not important / often enough to warrant a tool. Yeah some budgets are per year or month.

Project / Duty To Process
Side note: your question is pretty long, woul've gotten more response quicker probably if shorter and less prozaic Some other ideas that come to mind on top of talking to the LL to check role fit or resources:Request a better outcome (eg. smaller) for the projectRequest an estimate on when it's ...

Project / Duty To Process
Have to disagree with Rebecca's suggestion of offering a trade. IMHO this is exactly what Holacracy tries to prevent: politics. There are a lot of routes to take and going "outside of the system" feels like the wrong one to me Main reason being it covers up tension btw.

Mixing Tactical and Governance
A lot of our circles' secretaries have now planned Governance meetings directly after Tacticals. This to create less agenda-pressure (switching costs are high to go in and out of meetings), and to make Governance / evolution even cheaper. Depending on the facilitator we'll do a check out/in in be...

Holacracy in The Netherlands
Hi Christel, you can always visit one of our Holacracy Safari's in Amsterdam and we can have a chat afterwards too. We do charge €50 for it, to buy fun office gadgets since we all invest in this, and to make sure the visitors are engaged and really interested. https://www.springest.nl/sprin...act...

OKRs and Holacracy
Haven't read the other comments, my 2 cents: We use OKRs as the only way to set strategies in circles (so, LL's make it, but only for their own circle, not for the roles within it). Currently we have 1 O and 1 KR for the organisation as a whole, but average it's been 2/3 O's and each 2/3 KR's. Th...

Accountabilities in Anchor Circle
IMO it does make sense to expect something from the whole company, because it also has a purpose as a whole, as well as maybe domains / policies, right? I mean, I understand why it's impractical but if there's a purpose, there is a way to express that. Actually, maybe it could even be useful to d...

Accountabilities in Anchor Circle
I think a lot of non board entities outside of our company expect stuff from us, and I think it's an interesting thought to capture them in acctb, even sharing them with the outside world. Especially because often people expect things from us as a company, that we don't consider ourselves (and so...

Roles vs. Business Functions
We noticed it varies and also changes a lot, we have a lot of circles and roles that are not so much a business function as a target group or part of our product. It also goes back and forth over the years as our strategy changes.

OKRs and Holacracy
The conflict could be that officially (although it's not licensed or anything afaik) a manager can set the OKR for the coworker. John Doerr advices "at least 60% of the OKRs should be bottom up". In Holacracy that would be 100%, the Lead Link sets strategy for the circle but NOT for any of the ro...

Medium moving beyond Holacracy - Lessons ?
@Kevin / @Dien, on shared feeling of ownership, I see 2 angles:The Circle often has this "shared" feeling, people do tend to feel connected to its purpose and not just their own roles. Our OKRs (the way we define strategy) also help here.Projects are often "shared" by multiple roles. Indeed with ...

Going Without A Lead Link
Interesting! Does "distributed all authorities across the Circle to all Circle Members" mean that you've governed all accountabilities that the LL normally has, to other (or all??) circle roles? Could you clarify, maybe by showing those accountabilities and the roles that currently hold them?Also...

Sub-circle absorption to parent Circle
IMO the only test is to just do it, if it is safe enough to try. It's as simple as a governance proposal within the super circle by someone that has the tension (for instance the rep or lead link of the sub circle). Re not much to discuss in tacticals: this is indeed a sign that the circle is may...
