Use of Terms

Hi,

my question to you is: If and how to translate terms being used in Holacracy to a language different than English.

Let‘s have a look at the following: Lead Link, Facilitator, Proposal/Proposer, Habit.

While I have not seen many people on translating the term Lead Link into german it is not that easy on the Facilitator. Facilitator could be translated but i prefer to stick to the term Facilitator as a name for a role. I would go for the same on Proposer (but not Proposal - this will be translated). Habit (from the Habit Programm) will not be changed like Apps is not translated as well.

Hope to hear your input. The more different countries/languages the better.
How do you translate/use the terms?

Hi Tom,
thank you for pointing me to the german version of the constitution. I‘m aware of it. It will not solve my question as Proposer and Objector are actors of the Governance Meeting. While Lead Link and Facilitator are not translated the Proposer and Objector terms are which feels not straight.

Halo Oliver! Ich spreche von "der vorschlagenden Person" und "der Person, die einen Einwand hat" oder auch von "dem/der Vorschlagenden" und "dem/der Einwandgeber.in"

Hallo Juliane, Danke für Deinen Input. Das gefällt mir. Verwendest Du statt „Facilitator“ den deutschen Term „Moderator“? Wie machen es die anderen deutschsprachigen Kollegen, sind noch ein paar hier?

Hallo Oliver

Ich würde so weit wie möglich bei der englischen Terminologie bleiben. Wie so oft verliert man bei Übersetzungen einfach an Qualität und Aussagekraft; bei uns haben wir die englischen Begriffe deshalb beibehalten.

Ihr seid jedoch frei die Begriffe selbst zu definieren. Kopiert die Verfassung und legt euch ein Glossar an.

Es werden noch unzählige Begriffe folgen, die schwierig sind ins Deutsche zu übertragen (Domain, Accountability etc.), wichtig ist, dass die Begriffe von allen Anwendern deines Kreises gleich verstanden werden.

Ich sag "Facilitator". "Moderator" fände ich irreführend - die Person "moderiert" ja nicht bzw. kaum. Wir haben mal mit "Prozessleiter.in" und so experimentiert, aber sowohl "Prozess" als auch "leiten" konnotieren leicht falsch.
